O Ispa – Instituto Universitário anuncia a abertura de um procedimento concursal de seleção internacional para a contratação de um Investigador Auxiliar na área de Psicologia Cognitiva e Cognição Social. O concurso insere-se na 2.ª edição do Estímulo ao Emprego Científico – CEEC Institucional, ao abrigo do Decreto-Lei n.º 57/2016, alterado pela Lei n.º 57/2017, e tem a referência CEECINST/011/CT/2025.

A posição, integrada no William James Center for Research (WJCR), é destinada a doutorados com experiência comprovada nas áreas em concurso. O contrato de trabalho será celebrado por tempo indeterminado e em regime de dedicação exclusiva. O início das funções está previsto para outubro de 2025, com duração estimada até maio de 2028.

Perfil exigido

Podem candidatar-se investigadores doutorados há mais de cinco anos, com um percurso académico e científico sólido. São valorizadas competências em metodologias experimentais e de análise de dados, experiência em programação (nomeadamente em R e Python), publicação regular em revistas científicas de elevado impacto e envolvimento em projetos de investigação financiados. A fluência em inglês, escrita e falada, é igualmente obrigatória.

O candidato selecionado deverá desenvolver investigação independente e inovadora, colaborar ativamente nos projetos do WJCR, submeter candidaturas a financiamento competitivo e fomentar parcerias nacionais e internacionais. A posição contempla ainda responsabilidades de disseminação científica e de orientação académica.

Ispa launches international call for Assistant Researcher in Cognitive Psychology

Ispa – Instituto Universitário has opened an international selection procedure to recruit a PhD holder for the position of Assistant Researcher in the field of Cognitive Psychology and Social Cognition. This call, referenced CEECINST/011/CT/2025, is part of the 2nd Institutional Call for the Stimulus of Scientific Employment, under the framework of Decree-Law no. 57/2016, amended by Law no. 57/2017.

The position is integrated into the William James Center for Research (WJCR) and is open to candidates with a proven track record in the scientific areas covered by the Centre. The successful applicant will sign a fixed-term employment contract of uncertain duration, under the Labour Code, with an expected start in October 2025 and a foreseen end date in May 2028.

Who can apply?

Eligible candidates must hold a PhD degree obtained more than five years ago in Cognitive Psychology and/or Social Cognition, and demonstrate:

• Research experience in the relevant fields;
• Participation in funded national or international research projects;
• A strong publication record (minimum one publication per postdoctoral year, with at least one-third as first author, and most in Q1 journals);
• Programming skills in R and Python for statistical analysis;
• Experience in supervision or mentoring of research work;
• Fluency in spoken and written English.

The appointed researcher will be expected to:

• Conduct independent and innovative research;
• Support and contribute to the development of the WJCR’s strategic goals;
• Publish in peer-reviewed international journals;
• Apply for competitive research funding;
• Establish collaborations with academic and non-academic institutions;
• Disseminate scientific knowledge to diverse audiences.

The WJCR offers excellent conditions for laboratory and non-laboratory research, including technical, administrative and infrastructural support.

Each application must include the following documents in PDF format:

• A detailed curriculum vitae;
• A copy of the PhD diploma with the completion date (and recognition certificate if awarded by a non-Portuguese institution);
• A motivation letter (maximum 2 pages);
• Two letters of recommendation.
