Master’s Degrees

Cognitive and Behavioural Neuroscience

School of Biosciences

Partnership with the Portuguese Catholic University.

Cognitive and Behavioural Neuroscience is an emerging field of knowledge that studies the biological basis of cognition and behaviour, focusing in particular on the role of the nervous system in these psychological processes. It involves a combination of a solid grounding in psychology, particularly in the study of cognitive and emotional processes, a clear understanding of the organisation and functioning of the nervous system, and the fundamental principles and concepts of biology.

About the Programme

Due to the multiplicity of knowledge involved, this study plan is interdisciplinary in nature, integrating concepts, theories and techniques from neuroscience with knowledge and theories emerging from Psychology and Biology.

Combining theoretical training with practice and case studies, the master’s degree includes a placement in a real-world context and the development of an original research dissertation.

Note: This study cycle does not qualify graduates for independent professional practice as Psychologists.

Course Duration

The study plan has a duration of 2 academic years (4 semesters), totalling 120 ECTS credits.
