About the Course

The master’s degree in clinical psychology at Ispa offers future psychologists specialised, high-quality training to deal with the mental health challenges that arise throughout life. The teaching staff combines academic and scientific excellence with extensive clinical experience. This course provides students with a solid scientific education combined with exposure to the concrete reality of future professional practice. Students will have access to the most current theoretical and clinical models, analysis and work on practical cases, as well as different modalities of clinical and psychotherapeutic intervention.

The master’s degree combines theoretical training with practice and case studies and includes a placement in a real-world context and the preparation of an original research dissertation.

Course Duration

The study plan has a duration of 2 academic years (4 semesters), totalling 120 ECTS credits

Programme Objectives

  • To train Psychologists with the technical and scientific knowledge required for autonomous practice in clinical settings.To prepare a new generation of researchers in Clinical Psychology;

    To train professionals:

    1. a) with relational and communication skills for the practice of clinical psychology;
      b) with competences that enable continuous professional development throughout life;
      c) with an aptitude for the dissemination of Science;
      d )with sensitivity to current societal issues, including working with minorities and individuals facing social exclusion.

This master’s degree Enables

  • Registration as a Junior Psychologist with the Portuguese Psychologists’ Association (OPP), an essential step towards obtaining the professional title of Psychologist.
  • The practice of Psychology in private settings after obtaining the professional title of Psychologist, awarded by the OPP.
  • Access to 3rd cycle graduate training (Doctoral Degree / PhD).
