The teaching staff are specialised in various fields of Biology and are affiliated with MARE – Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre. This research centre, focused on marine sciences and comprising over 400 researchers from six Portuguese universities, received an “Excellent” rating in the most recent evaluation by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). MARE aims to be a leading institution in scientific development and innovation for economic and social advancement, focusing on public policy implementation, European directives, and the challenges of modern societies.
