The conference “Ispa Psychology & Pain Management – Psychological management of pain: a state-of-the-science update” will take place on the 29th, 30th and 31st of March 2022.

During the two days of this scientific meeting, the most recent trends and findings relative to evidence-based psychosocial (chronic/acute) pain management intervention programs will be presented and discussed. Their applicability and utility in the Portuguese context will be discussed. The utility of new and integrative approaches, including spiritual and religious practices, will be also addressed. Renowned national and international pain researchers and clinicians, such as Professor Mark P. Jensen (University of Washington, USA), Professor Melissa A. Day (University of Washington, USA; University of Queensland, Australia), Professor Arndt Büssing (Herdecke University, Germany), Doctor Patrícia Pinto (University of Minho, Portugal), and Doctor Alexandra Ferreira Valente (William James Center for Research, Portugal), just to cite a few, will present the results of their most recent research findings on these topics.

The workshop registrations are now open. Due to high demand, Ispa’s PhD students will have priority in booking a sit, followed by other Ispa students, collaborators, APED and SPPS members, and the general public.

To secure your registration, please send us an email to gmc@ispa.pt to reserve the sit. If you are an Ispa student, please include your student ID number. The remaining available sitting will be assigned by order of booking.

Abstract Submission

Abstract Submission (for digital posters) is now open, until February 28th.

Rules

  • All abstracts submitted will be reviewed by the Scientific Program Committee.
  • Abstracts must be received by the announced deadline. Abstracts received after the deadline will not be considered.
  • Abstracts should be submitted in a MS Word document sent to the email copahs@ispa.pt until February 28th, indicating in the Subject of the email: “Abstract Submission – *Surname of the first author* et al.”.
  • All abstracts must be submitted and presented in clear English with accurate grammar and spelling of a quality suitable for publication.
  • The content of the abstract should not have been previously published or presented at national or international meetings.
  • Abstracts should not exceed 200 words and should be preceded by a Title with 10 words or less.
  • Structured abstracts are preferred. Suggested sections: Background, Methods, Results, Discussion.
  • Include the names, affiliations, and email addresses of all authors.
  • Acceptance will be communicated until March 10th.
  • Authors of accepted (digital) posters should submit their digital poster, by email, to copahs@ispa.pt, by March 15th. Guidelines for poster preparation will be sent upon communication of acceptance.
