Eco-Ethology Research Unit
Unidade de Investigação em Eco-Etologia

 
The Research Unit is composed of two research groups (in green) and has the structure depicted below. The Regulation of the Research Unit is avaible here (in portuguese).

 
:: Scientific Coordinator

The Scientific Coordinator is responsible for the scientific leadership and management activities of the Unit, namely:
a) presiding the meetings of the Scientific Committee;
b) coordinate and formulate the general activity plans of the Unit;
c) elaborate the UIE reports
The Coordinator is elected every three years, by the members of the Scientific Committee.

Currently, the Scientific Coordinator is Dr. Vitor Almada

 
:: Permantent Committee

The Scientific Coordinator will be assisted by a Permanente Committee of a maximum of three regular members. These are doctored professores with permanent ties to ISPA, and are proposed by the coordinator and ratictified by the scientific committee.
It is their duty to colaborate with the Coordinator in articulating the diferent activities of the Unit and in elaborating the progress evaluations and strategic development plans.

:: Scientific Committee
All the doctored regular members of the Unit are members of the Scientific Committee. It is their duty to:
a) Approve the annual activity plan and report;
b) Elect the Scientific Coordinator;
c) Approve and alter the Unit's regulations;
d) Rule on material and intelectual property of the Unit;
e) Decide on admission and exoneration of Unit members;
f) Nominate the Counselling Committee;
g) Elaborate medium-term strategic activity plans;
h) Approve the resource management policies, namely the Pluriannual budget, after proposal by the Coordinator.
:: Counselling Committee

The Counselling Committee is composed of three elements, all researchers in the area with recognized merit, two of which foreign researchers. The members of the Counselling Committee are invited by the Scientific Committee and nominated for three years. It is their duty to evaluate the Unit, conduct yearly visits, and elaborate an opinion regarding the activity plan and report, and the Unit budget plan.
