Current research project
Many fish species exhibit a larval stage spending a variable
amount of time in the pelagic environment. A number of factors
like food availability, predation and oceanographic conditions,
influence their survival.
Our research is focused on determining the relation between
the condition (RNA/DNA ratio) and their pelagic larval duration
in late stage fish larvae and recently settled recruits. We
are particularly interested in the cryptobenthic coastal families
Blenniidae, Gobiidae, Gobiesocidae and Tripterygiidae at the
Arrábida Marine Park.
